Central Coast Home & Lifestyle Autumn 2019

The Central Coasts favourite farmers market G osford City Farmers Market is the Central Coast favourite farmers’ market. NSW Farmers Market Pty Ltd is the Company with 20 years experience in the promotion and development of farmers markets in NSW. So what exactly is a farmers market? And why should I support them? In a nutshell: A farmers’ market is a physical retail market space intended to sell foods directly grown by farmers to consumers. Farmers’ markets may be indoors or outdoors and typically consist of marquees, tables or stands where farmers sell fruits, vegetables, meats, cheeses, and sometimes prepared foods and beverages. Farmers’ markets exist in many countries worldwide and reflect the local culture and economy. The size of the market may be just a few stalls or it may be very large with up to 150 businesses.

Ridge. The colour and bountiful produce is a sight to hold on Sunday mornings with their stall packed to the rafters. This is little of what you can find at Gosford Showground every Sunday. It is a haven for fresh tasty produce with a wide range of primary produce including free range eggs, dressed poultry, pork, bacon, jams, preserves, stuffed olives, macadamia nuts, as well as “food to eat” vendors. Did we mention the Goat and Sheep Cheeses, humus and fresh baked sourdough breads? Grab your baskets and head to Gosford Showground on Showground Road and support your local farmers. Farmers Markets are great for quality food products, good for the local economy, good for a sustainable environment, good for public well-being and good for tourism.
