KY SNYDER EXECUTIVE DIRECTOR OFATHLETICS/ASSISTANTVP FOR STUDENTAFFAIRS Ky Snyder was named Executi ve Director of Athletics/Assistant Vice President for Student Affa irs at the Un iversity of Sa n Diego on November 10th, 2003 at a press conference held in the Warren Hospitality Su ite. Dr. Mary E. Lyons, USO President, introdu ced Snyder, who returns to USO where he was Director of Athletic Development between 1990-1996. He comes to USO from the San Diego In ternational Sports Council, where he held the position of President.

With the San Diego Interna tional Sports Counci l, the 42-yea r-old Snyder's primary responsibility was to promote San Diego/Tiju ana as the preferred region for sporting events an d activ ities that benefit the community both economica ll y and socially. Recent accompli shments of the Sports Council bid efforts includ e securing fo r San Diego the 1997 and 1998 ESPN Summer X Games, the Suzuki Rock ' n' Roll Marathon, the 1999 Major League Soccer All-Star Ga me, the inau gural Bank of America/U.S. Olympic Cup, NCAA Division I Men's Basketball First & Second Round (2001) contests, the NCAA Division I Women's Volleyba ll Championships (2001) and Super Bowl XXXVII. In the spring of 2001, Snyd er was named the President of the Sa n Diego Super Bowl Host Committee scheduled fo r January 26, 2003. He is a member of the Board of Directors of the San Diego NFL Youth Education Town and the Sa n Diego Super Bowl Task Force. He is a member of the Sa n Diego Downtown Rotary Club on the military affairs committee and Thanksgiving Day program. Snyder was also the Executive Director of the San Diego International Sports Found ation. Prior to joining the SDISC, Snyder was the Director of Ath letic Deve lopment at the Uni versi ty of San Di ego fo r six years. At USO he was responsible for establishing the Torero Athletic Association, fund-raising efforts for athl etics, managing athl etic special events and genera ting corpora te sponsorship o f athletics. At USO he'll work in overseeing an athleti c department with 16 NCAA Di vision I intercollegiate teams and approximately 400 studen t-athletes. He' ll be responsible for all administra tive, management and superv isory aspects of the Department of Athletics. Additi onally, he' ll oversee the strategic long-ra nge pl anning and monitoring o f budge ts, personnel, p rograms, facilities, fundra ising, promotions a nd marketing, and publi c relati ons for an NCAA Division I program consisting of eight sports for men and eight sports for women. Snyder played footba ll at San Diego State Uni versity. Snyder holds a Bachelor's Degree in Marketing from Sa n Diego State University and has studied in the Master's Leadership Program at the Uni versity of San Diego. He is a guest lecturer at the Uni versity of San Diego's MBA Sports Management p rogram and the SDSU Hospitality Management program . Snyder, who has been a Sa n Diego resident for 22 yea rs, has a very athletic fami ly. His wife, Sue, was a former stand out member of the United States women's national volleyball team who played at San Diego State and also coached the Aztecs and Uni versi ty of San Diego's volleyball teams. In addition, Snyder's father, Lester, held the position as President of the United Sta tes Tennis Association. The Snyders reside in Poway with their son Riley (age 11), daughter Sydney (age 8) and daughter Ca mmy (age 5).

DR. JO-ANN NESTER DIRECTOR OFATHLETICS /SWA

Dr. Jo-Ann Nester enters her second yea r as the Director of Athletics at the University of Sa n Diego. Prior to being promoted to the Director position, Nester served as Associate Director of Athletics and Senior Woman Administra– to r here at USO. Dr. Nester oversees the opera tions of the Torero ath letic department that includes 16 NCAA Division I intercollegiate programs. In her role as Director of Athletics, Nester has direct supervisory responsibility for the operations of the varsity sports programs. Additionally, she has direct supervisory responsibi lity for the areas of Compliance, Academi c Support, Athletic Training, facilities and scholarship allocations. Nester also serves as the Senior Woman Admin– istra tor Liaison to the West Coast Conference and NCAA.

"Serving as the Director of Ath letics at the Uni versity of San Diego is an exciting challenge," sa id Nester. "To be an Athletic Director at a NCAA Division I, academically rigorous institution was a career goa l that I had set for myself ea rl y in my ca reer. I am very pleased th at this goa l has been reached he re at this outstandin g university. I thoroughl y enjoy wo rking together with our outstanding coaches, staff and stud ent athletes. Nester is committed to ma intaining the Uni versity and Athl eti c Depa rtment commitmen t to p rov iding an outstanding and successfu l NCAA Di vision I athletic program within the rigorous acad emic en vironment that is the Uni versity of San Diego. During the 2003-04 season, four Torero teams went to the NCAA championship events. Academically, 15 studen t-a thletes were named to West Coast Conference All-Academi c teams, 12 football players were named to the Pioneer Football League All-Academic team and Kellen Hi rota, from men's soccer, was honored as a 2nd Team Verizon Academ ic All American. Tiffanie Marley became the first Torero women's cross country athle te to w in the West Coast Conference Champi onship, and Kelsey Watters (women's rowing) and Eric Rasmu ssen (football) were named male and female Torero Athletes of the Yea r. In add ition, men's soccer standout, Kellen Hi rota, was the recipient of the inaugural WCC Post Gradu ate Scholarship. Continuing thi s traditi on o f excellence in the cl assroom and competiti ve arena while providing an exce llent athletic ex perience for our stu dent– athletes will continu e to be the priority during Nester's tenure as the USO Director of Athletics. Nester came to USO from Dartmouth College where she held the position of Associate Director of Athletics for nine yea rs. Her duties includ ed oversight of comp liance, stud ent se rvices, promotions and marketing, and numerous sports programs. Prior to he r a ppoin tment at Dartmouth Co llege, she was the Director of Athletics and Recreation at Saint Mary's College in Notre Dame, Indi ana between 1984-93. In addition, she has a coaching background at the hi gh school and college leve ls, and has served on several committees w ithin the NCAA, ECAC and Ivy League. Jo-Ann's educational background includes a B.S. deg ree in Hea lth and Physica l Edu ca ti on from West Chester State Coll ege (1971); a Master of Science degree from West Cheste r (1976); an Ed. D Doctor of Ed ucation from Temp le Uni versity (1985); and she completed the Sports Manage– ment Institute in the Execu ti ve Program at the Uni versity of Notre Dame (1992).
