North American Association of Wardens and Superintendents

2019 Warden of the Year On Monday, Aug. 5, the North American Asso- ciation of Wardens and Superintendents (NAAWS) held its annual Warden of the Year Banquet. Warden Robert Herrera from the Texas De- partment of Criminal Justice was honored as the NAAWS Warden of the Year for his exceptional leadership in the administration of a correctional facility, his prudent stewardship, his personal concern for staff and inmates and his creative ap- proach to problem solving. 2019 Medal of Valor Two Medal of Valor awards were presented at the NAAWS Warden of the Year Banquet on Monday, Aug. 5. Adam Williamson and Nicolas Wilson , CoreCivic maintenance employees, were awarded NAAWS Medals of Valor for their brav- ery and courage when they came to the aid of a corrections officer, putting their own lives at risk.
