Griffin and Sacks provide a very slim peek of the emotional nature of these fields, which we collectively hope encourages and emboldens rather than shies away or frightens. Why share these stories with the public? There are books written by those incarcerated and those

who have worked in criminal justice serving agencies. This book provides a humanizing starting point, a basic foundation and a voice to those interacting in various and, sometimes, interlocking ways within the criminal justice arena. There is a human being behind that name, number, shield or badge. The emotional and human toll cannot be minimized whether behind or in front of cell bars. This is a field full of debate at each stage,

which these authors present. If you want your voice heard, come from a place of fact, compassion, grief, understanding and solutions. Perhaps Griffin and Sacks are provoking discussion of the future of rehabilitative measures and encouragement to our future reformers. Their book is a good limited sampling of the corrections field, and raises more questions than answers, which makes it worth reading. u
