RUGGEDISED AND PORTABLE SMART POWER QUALITY ANALYSER

JOKARI ALLROUNDER CABLE STRIPPER

T he Jokari Allrounder cable stripper, distributed locally by ElectroMechanica (EM), offers an innovative solution for industry and craftspeople. Jokari-Krampe GmbH is a specialist in the area of cable and wire stripping, and the Allrounder is one of its latest innovations. The tool is suitable for round and flat cables in a range of ap- plications. Painstaking and often injury-prone work with sharp blades is rendered safer, simpler, and more precise as a result. The Jokari Allrounder is ideal for removing the coating and

modes. It is possible to view RMS data, wareforms, demand data, phase angles, vector diagrams, harmonics, inter- harmonics, unbalance, flicker, and more in real time. When data needs to be recorded, the MPQ2000 record-verification feature automatically identifies the current clamps in use, recognises the range they are in, and verifies the unit is connected properly. It verifies that all voltage and current connections are correct prior to the start of the recording. This eliminates the possibility of recording ‘bad’ data. From utilities, to commercial, industrial, and residential monitoring, the MPQ2000 is a comprehensive tool for analysing and solving power quantity and power quality problems.

THE MPQ2000 MEGGER portable power quality analyser, with its latest software and enhanced capabilities, addresses the international IEC61000, IEEE1159, IEEE519 and EN50160 series of power quality and delivery standards used around the world. Powered off either the phase A voltage input or an auxiliary input that operates off 115 V 60 Hz or 230 V 50 Hz, the unit is versatile and able to be used in any location. In addition, the MPQ2000 measures ac and dc simultaneously up to 1 000 V. It is an easy-to-use advanced portable three-phase power analyser housed in a ruggedised weatherproof enclosure. It comes with a field-replaceable, rechargeable battery with backup/ride- through time up to five hours, making the MPQ2000 the ideal tool for outdoor use. The unit can be left at remote locations and data can be viewed from the user’s location at his or her convenience. Multiple communication methods such as USB and Ethernet, as well as SD card and USB-stick support allow flexible and convenient results storage and transfer of data and set-up files. The free software, which requires no licence, optimises the MPQ2000 to locate the power quality phenomenon based on the problems being investigated while the PC software offers advanced charting, advanced waveform and advanced harmonic analysis capabilities. The analyser comes equipped with self-identifying, four range flexible current clamps which are powered by the unit. No batteries are required. It also comes equipped with real-time scope and DVM

longitudinal sections of wires, stripping massive or flexible wires for crimping cable-end sleeves, exposing wire lengths for specific connections, and working with a range of cable diameters from 4 mm to 15 mm. “This practical tool has a clever design that is adjustable to the required work, with a grip for movement support, and a self-centring cable duct for longitudinal sections,” says EM spokesperson Lizanne Scholtz. It has a reconnectable length stop for right- and left-handers, with a parking position in the depot slot. This allows for free wire bypass, and therefore single-conductor stripping of any length, struc- ture, and side blocking surfaces. In addition, the tool is lightweight and easy to use. Cables are simply entered into the device, and then stripped with a quick circular movement that strips wires safely and precisely. An extra blade is provided specifically for longitudinal cuts.

‘GOLD STANDARD’ OF INDUSTRIAL TEMPERATURE CALIBRATION

display rotates 90°, making for easy reading from any angle. A user-configurable stability/trend indica- tor lets the technician know when the temperature is stable enough to record an accurate measurement. A user-settable auto-off function extends typical battery life to three hundred hours. A low-battery indicator and stop-measure function prevents er- roneous measurements from being made owing to low battery life. A three-point calibration func- tion allows the operator to easily and accurately calibrate the ‘Stik’ thermometer. Data logging to internal memory of up to 10 000 time-stamped measurements is an available option. Fluke ther- mometers are available from Comtest.

FLUKE 1551A Ex and 1552A EX ‘Stik’ thermometers provide a highly precise and durable digital replace- ment for mercury-in-glass thermometers and are engineered to give temperature calibration specialists the durable, intrinsically-safe digital instrument they need for precision temperature calibration. The thermometers are intrinsically safe (ATEX and IECEx compliant), so they can be used where potentially explosive gases may be present. More durable than mercury-in-glass instruments, they can be used reliably outdoors or on the production floor. The 1551A ‘Stik’ thermometer covers a tempera- ture range of -50 °C to 160 °C. The model 1552A Ex covers a range of -80 °C to 300 °C. Both mod- els are accurate to ± 0.05 °C over their full tem- perature range. Process manufacturers of chemi- cal, pharmaceutical, food or petroleum products require accurate temperature measurements. Since temperature sensors are subject to drift with time, regular calibration or verification against a reliable reference thermometer is required. The stainless steel probe and digital readout of the Fluke 1551A Ex/1152A EX ‘Stik’ thermometers are fixed together and calibrated as a system. The accuracy specification is easy to understand since it includes all uncertainty components, includ- ing drift, for up to one year. The large backlit LCD

Kreg Rip-Cut CIRCULAR SAW EDGE GUIDE

T he Kreg Rip-Cut TM circular saw edge guide turns an ordinary circular saw into a precision edge-guided cutting tool. It easily makes straight, accurate, repeatable cuts without measuring, marking, or having to keep the saw on the cut line. The Rip-Cut is easy to use. Sim- ply mount the saw to the universal sled – it accepts most left-blade or right-blade saws – and then slide the sled onto the aluminum rail. Af- ter a one-time calibration, you can lock in your cut width (from 25 mm to 610 mm) using the measuring scale and precision cursor. Then, just hold the edge guide against the edge of the sheet as you guide the saw. It gives straight, accurate and repeatable cuts easily every time.
