US Steel appointment United States Steel Corporation has appointed David L Britten to the newly created position of vice president – tubular technology and business development. Mr Britten will oversee energy services and tubular technology development efforts, including premium connections, as well as other business development activities. He will report to senior vice president – tubular operations Douglas R Matthews, and as an executive officer of the corporation will be based at US Steel’s corporate headquarters in Pittsburgh.

With an in-house machine shop, DK Jones can provide special flange facings and non-standard wall thicknesses with a short delivery time. The new range of alloy flanges complements the existing stock range of butt weld fittings, Olets, forged fittings and pipe in alloy steel plus a full range of products in carbon and low temperature grades. All stock is sourced from fully quality-assured suppliers. In order to offer customers extra security, PMI (positive material identification) is available upon request before shipment. DK Jones Ltd will be exhibiting at the Tube Southeast ASIA exhibition, which will be held in Bangkok from 13 to 15 September. After SSAB acquired IPSCO in 2007, he was named senior vice president – steel for the company’s IPSCO division. Mr Britten earned a Bachelor of Science degree in mechanical engineering from the Technical University of Nova Scotia (now known as Dalhousie University) in Halifax in 1983. He obtained a Master of Science degree in mechanical engineering from Queen’s University in Kingston, Ontario in 1985. During his career he has been active in several prominent industry trade associations, including serving on the boards of the American Iron and Steel Institute, the Steel Manufacturers Association and the Metals Service Center Institute.
