4. Calibration Process cont.

Developing in Role Category

Following the performance review and a companywide calibration an employee may fall into the Developing in Role Category. This category recognises that there is a need for improvement, since the employee is still learning in their role. Individuals within this category may be showing positive signs that they will develop into their role, however he or she may not have developed as expected against his or her learning curve.

Criteria:

To be classed as Developing in Role an individual must meet one or more of the following criteria:

In the last 12 to 18 months he or she has either -

• taken on a new role • been responsible for learning or implementing a new system or process • taken on additional responsibilities – either planned or ad hoc • taken on a leadership/ line management role for the first time Additionally, the individual and their line manager must be able to demonstrate and/or provide evidence that the individual’s performance is expected to improve. This could be based on previous performance reviews or, if new to the role, strong evidence that the individual has being making positive progress against his or her Learning Plan and that he or she is expected to reach the level of skills and knowledge required of the role within the next 12 months. Each function is expected to aim to use the full range of performance ratings in order to achieve the distribution shown below:
