Filing a Candidate’s Statement: The Candidate Statement shall be filed in the Office of the City Clerk when a candidate’s nomination papers are returned for filing. No corrections will be allowed after the statement has been filed with the Registrar of Voters’ Office . Candidate’s Statements shall remain confidential until the expiration of the filing deadline. Mass Mailing Requirements: Candidates who anticipate sending mass mailings must read and follow the mass mailing requirements set forth by the California Elections Code. (Copy provided in Candidate’s packet.) Code of Fair Campaign Practices: A copy of the Code of Fair Campaign Practices has been provided. Please read it, sign it and return A copy of applicable portions of the City of Morgan Hill and Santa Clara County “sign ordinance”; and Morgan Hill Sign Guidelines have been provided. Please review it and the following guidelines before placing any campaign signs to ensure compliance. As a candidate, you are responsible for the removal of all campaign signs following the election. Statement of Economic Interests: Pursuant to State Law, each candidate for City Council shall file, no later than the final filing date of the Declaration of Candidacy ( August 7, 2020 or August 12, 2020 ), a statement disclosing his or her investments and interests in real property with the City Clerk’s office (Form 700). If, after you have read the instructions on the back of the forms, you have specific questions about what is reportable, please call the Fair Political Practices Commission between the hours of 8 a.m. and 5:00 p.m. (Phone number is in your packet). Note : You do not have to disclose your personal residence if you own a home. However, a residence for which you claim a business deduction is reportable, if the portion claimed as a tax deduction is valued at $2,000 or more. If elected, you will be required to file within 10 days another Form 700 - Assuming Office Statement - with the City Clerk’s Office.
