A leta L abiento • P rograms of T he H ealth P rofessions • H ofstra U niversity R otaract D istrict C hair : N assau , Q ueens , B rooklyn . • Student’s enrolled 142 - includes Phi Delta Epsilon, The Health & Wellness Club, Eta Sigma Gamma: Gamma Pi and the Medical Missions Club. • February, March, April, May 2015 – Guest Lecture Series: Rotary District 7255 Program Coordinators. • Irving Toliver – Nigeria Polio Eradication Program & Grand Writing. • David Ardam – Polio Eradication overview & The Philippine Water Project. Plans through The Kings Park Rotary. • Operation Initiative: Lou Falco • November 2015: Hofstra Rotaractor’s placed hundreds of booking into the Veterans House at Nassau Community College (Library room). • Fundraiser- Rotacare Caregivers Ball -- April 18th, 2015 Raised $1,300.00 gifted to Rotacare for their work. • Luncheon: March, 2015: Jane Letterman Century 21 & Banker: Topic: The value of a credit score; using credit wisely; effect on financial aid in conjunction with the Hofstra financial aid office discussion on borrowing. • Fundraiser- Medical Missions Caregivers Ball: November 14th, 2015. In support of Doctor’s Without Borders. Raising awareness for the need of medical missions in 3rd world countries. • 14 Rotoractors attended The Caregivers Ball (Rotaract, April 2015). • Boat trip – Gone fishing and thinking about an agenda for 2016. (May 2015). • Boat ride on The Providance – Senior Day BBQ and beach day. May 2015th. • July, 2015 attending the Babylon Rotary meeting and presentation of Hofstra Rotaract’s plan- ning so far. • July/August – planning and support for the Babylon Rotary Wine & Cheese Event (Sept. 20th, 2015). • Food drive for The Inn. • Major Thanksgiving food drive for Veterans. • Pet food drive for seniors through food pantries (St. Martin of Tours Church in Amityville). • A Thank You For Serving Luncheon: Veteran’s Day: Joint meeting with Veterans Club of Nassau Community College (80 veterans, and student’s attended). • Medical Missions to Panama Jan. 2016 (6 Hofstra student’s). (they are there now and will return the 24th of January). • Medical Missions meeting with Gift of Life Administrators (executive Rotaract luncheon). • Guest speaker: Gift of Life Administrator Mary • Meeting with M.J. Fitzerald: Hofstra Rotaract Officer’s – regarding programs for women and children. Discussion of a 2016 fundraiser for Girls Inc.

• February 2015: Valentines Day Bake Sale, and health advocacy regarding safe-sex. Held in the student center at Hofstra University. • Volleyball night--- bowling night’s (March and April). • Luncheon: Law Offices of Sharmine Persaud – Topic: Compassionate Social Security Benefit’s Program. • Luncheon: Immigration and Naturalization Attorney’s as guest speakers. • Luncheon: South Shore Otolaryngology Plastic Surgery – Cleft Pallet and dental reconstruction. • Smile Train Medical Missions. * Luncheon with Jacki Yonic and her Rotary Youth Leadership Board to discuss partnerships and . . fundraising. July, 2015. * Luncheon: Concepts of Homeland Security and University Safety. ‘Live Shooter Drill’. Dec. 2015. * Luncheon: Identify Theft and telecommunicaitons. Nassau Police Department. * Executive Board meeting to set 2016 agenda according to Academic Calendar. * Setting the dates for Medical Missions through Gift of Life to: Italy, Haiti, Russia (spring 2016). * Dates to present to: The Babylon Rotary and The Garden City Rotary (sponsors of Hofstra Rotaract). * Budget issues and how to solve them in advance. Guest speaker. Dr. Labiento. * Camp PaQuatic; CPR and first aid training for medical missions. * End of Year 2015 Rotaract Luncheon and Senior Day. • 2016 Rotaract Team meeting with Go-green – Research into labeling foods in N.Y. that are modified. • Looking into some conferences related to health advocacy, and immigration. • Tracking the migration of persons requesting Refugee Status in Europe and issues related to education of children; adults, and tooling for employment programs. • Tracking the Presidential Election in the United States. • Trying ‘again’ to start a Rotaract at Adelphi University. • Planning a Not for Profit Seminar highlighting the work of Rotary International and Rotary District 7255 – A Guest Lecture Evening Program.
