Get the retirement youwant.

It’s never too soon to start planning.

Many of us have a clear vision of our retirement years. Yet, a surprising number of people have no idea how they’ll turn those dreams into reality. The fact is today’s retirement takes more than savings and Social Security. It requires a financial plan that addresses your needs, wants and how you’ll pay for them. That’s where I can help. Together, we’ll create a plan to help your money work long enough and hard enough to fund the retirement you envision. LIFEWELLPLANNED. Contact me to get started.

Commodores Comments…

First, and most importantly, I ask each of you to do as Sandi and I have, to keep your thoughts and prays with Joey Maniaci, son of members Philip and Joni for his recovery. Good time had by all!!! That is my assessment of the 2016 Commodore’s Ball. Sandi and I want to give a heartfelt thank you to all that attended the wonderful NCYC tradition with us. What a great venue with awesome food, music and fun. It takes so many friends and family to make this event a success and I thank each and every one of them who helped us. I hope that you have all heard PC Brian McEvoy’s choices for Member of the Year, PC Bob & Patti Watson and Spirit Award winners, PC Rick & Jill Romatz, both couples have earned their recognition. The work weekend dates are filling quickly. Please contact Secretary Tom Martin to save the dates you prefer before he has to spread the remaining membership across the remaining openings. We are still in need of a few week managers as well. Please contact PC Harley Burris to support the club and take one of the remaining weeks. Get a few friends and make it an event. We still have winter opportunities to share with fellow NCYC members. We have the monthly bowling at Total Sports. We can also support NCYC PC & current Commodore of ABYA Rick Romatz at the March rendezvous at Midland. The more members that attend the more fun we

have. Come join us for a great time. Looking forward to seeing you soon. Commodore Chuck Stroh

Vice Commodores Comments…

The Commodores Ball has come and gone and I want to thank Commodore Chuck Stroh and his wife Sandi for the fine time everyone had at their ball. The food and drink were excellent and a good time was had by all. February is upon us, but the winter of last year is nowhere to be found. Even with the mild winter, the water levels remain high and should provide us with another stellar boating season in 2016. As we wait for this season’s launch, the NCYC board is busy with this year’s projects and expenditures. The bar renovation is at the top of the list, with many hours still needed to complete this project. If the weather stays mild, we can resume work on the project in mid to late March. With spring fast on the way, it’s time to remind all members to make a point of attending one or more of our elite Brigade work parties. We always have plenty to do and there is no better way to create new and refresh old friendships by working together on a club project. Don’t be afraid of getting involved, you’ll most likely enjoy it. VC Pat

Rear Commodores Comments…

The Commodore’s Ball took place on January 23 rd and a good time was had by all. Commodore Chuck and Sandi put together a party that everyone will remember, great food, great entertainment and lots of fun. As I look out my office window and see winter at its best with a balmy 14 degrees, listening to the winter wind blasting cold into everything outdoors and pushing its way through cracks and crevices into the warm indoors. It is only natural that you think about spring and our Elite Brigade visits to the Island to begin the “awakening” of the NCYC Clubhouse and grounds. A little less than 3 months we will be planning our boating season again. I am looking forward to seeing the new bar area at our club under the management team of Ron Kemp and Ed Romatz. Please mark your calendars and be part of the team to bring our clubhouse and grounds back to life for another fantastic boating season. The first Elite Brigade is Saturday, April 16, 2016. Look forward to seeing you there. R/C Randy Pagel

Take it slow… HAPPY FEBRUARY!

Thank you to the Romans for their mid- February fertility celebrations, which

were the pre-Valentine’s Day celebrations. In an effort to

Christianize these celebrations, the Catholic Church began celebrating these events. By the mid 1300’s, February 14 was associated with “love” as it was thought 2/14 was the beginning of birds mating season. Fast forward to today, and celebrate Valentine’s Day with Chocolate Lava Cake and ice cream! Chocolate is still the favorite flavor for Valentine’s Day. With this simple Chocolate Lava Cake, you can spend your time making dinner or return home from eating out to a warm, yummy dessert. Remember to pick up some ice cream to partner with this chocolaty goodness.

1. In a large bowl, combine cake mix, water, eggs and oil. Beat on low speed for 30 seconds. Beat on medium speed for 2 minutes. Transfer to a greased or crock pot liner 4qt. slow cooker. 2. In another bowl, whisk milk and pudding mix for 2 minutes. Let stand for 2 minutes or until soft- set. Spoon over cake batter. Sprinkle with chocolate chips. Cover and cook on high for 3-4 hours until a toothpick inserted in cake portion comes out with moist crumbs. Serve warm.

Brian McEvoy, Past Commodore

NCYCPrayer

Good evening everyone, at this time let us bow our heads as we enter into our time of prayer. We now pray in the name of our Lord and Savior Jesus Christ. Lord, You have told us that when two or more pray together in your name, there also You will be with us in our midst. So Lord at this time we cordially invite you now to be with us as we offer to you our thanksgiving and petitions this evening. Father we thank you so much for the Gift of Prayer, to have the divine ability to talk to You the Creator of the Heavens and Earth and of all living creatures great and small alike. Good and gracious God we thank you for this day of life, and we thank You Lord for all the generous blessings you provide to all of us each day. We thank you for our health, the food you provide for us, the clean water we drink, and the clean air we breathe. We thank you for our families and friends, and for Your Sacrifice on the cross to offer each one of us salvation. So Father we come to you now to ask you to help us engage with one another in a meaningful and joyful occasion at this year’s NCYC’s Commodore’s Ball. Help us Lord to be able to nurture and grow in our relationships, to become closer to one another, not only on an individual basis but as a united organization in this room of celebration tonight. All Mighty and loving God please also shine your light on the most gifted areas of this year’s Flag officers, the Board of Directors, all The Appointed staff, the First Mates President and their Board of Directors. Give to them an extra measure of wisdom Lord so they can utilize their God given talents that you created in them to effectively fulfill their callings to serve. How awesome it is that we have a Father in Heaven that created the Great Lakes with just a simple command from His voice. With that being said Lord we would like to ask You to please remember all our members that will be navigating these beautiful Lakes. We pray that You would allow the lake levels to remain safe and the waters to be calm for the destinations that are planned for this boating season. In addition Father please listen to our Heartfelt petition, as we now ask You with our deepest love and humility to please keep all our brave men and women that are serving in our armed services safe, and to keep them in good health, so they can come home after their tours of duty joyfully to enter into their families and friends loving arms. Lord, we would also like to ask you to guide all the Doctors and Nurses minds, hearts and hands, to bring members of our club and possibly members of their families back to health that may be suffering from illnesses, surgeries, or from any type of adversity that they may be experiencing. In closing Dear Father, we ask that you would please bless this food we are about to receive, and we would also like to ask You to Bless all the men and women this evening who are serving us tonight, the Management staff and all their service personnel, to offer them safety as they all return to their families and homes tonight. So as we also have to leave this place of celebration May You our Father in Heaven always and at all times walk before us to guide us, beside us to be a friend to us, behind us to support and comfort us, above us to protect us, and within us to give us your peace. WepraythatallthepetitionspresentedtoYoutonightLord willbedoneaccordinglytoYourwillandnotours. WeaskallthesethingsinthenameofourHeavenlyFather, AMEN!!
