Dr. Kelly Walls, a BC professor of criminal justice since 1998, and Dr. Kim Farmer (pictured), professor and chair of the Department of Criminal Justice who joined the faculty nearly three decades ago, are being honored through the establishment of the Walls-Farmer Criminal Justice Scholarship. The scholarship will not only pay tribute to the veteran professors, but also provide vital financial aid to criminal justice students. “I can think of no greater honor,” said Dr. Walls. “To have our names placed on a lasting legacy is the pinnacle of our careers.” To further that legacy by giving to the scholarship, visit bluefield.edu/crjscholarship .

Bluefield College received one of its most significant individual gifts in school history from former professor and longtime supporter Dr. Donald W. Caudill (pictured second from left). The gift is BC’s first endowed gift for an academic department and will enable the college to transition its Department of Business into the Dr. Donald W. Caudill School of Business. It will be used to develop new academic programs and degrees within the School of Business, hire new faculty for the growing number of programs, expand existing business curriculums, and improve or create new instructional space. More than 30 former music students were back on campus in February for a series of reunions and to return to the BC stage to perform a concert directed by onetime music professor Bryant Moxley. The two-day winter Music Alumni Reunion and Concert provided former students and their families an opportunity to reconnect and reminisce with other fellow grads. The gathering included a reunion reception, breakfast, campus tours, a formal alumni dinner, and the marquee reunion concert. “Just seeing the students means so much to me,” said Moxley. “I’m honored they would give up their weekend to be a part of this.” View photos at bluefield.edu/musicreunion2018 .

Bluefield College has established a scholarship to pay tribute to the legacy of professor emeritus Dr. Will Gordon (pictured), who passed away in November of 2017. Dr. Gordon taught business courses at BC for 42 years, making a difference in the lives of hundreds of students through his teaching while also serving as chair of the Division of Business, manager of the BC Bookstore, and faculty advisor for the Business Club. It’s that influence the college hopes will prompt former students to give to the Gordon Scholarship to help preserve his legacy at BC. Learn more at bluefield.edu/gordonscholarship .
