AOAC SPSFAM Working Group on Cannabis

The AOAC Stakeholder Panel on Strategic Food Analytical Methods (SPSFAM) Working Group on Cannabis has been working on development of SMPRs. The first set of SMPRs approved were for cannabinoids in dried plant materials ( AOAC 2017.002 ) and cannabinoids in extracts ( AOAC 2017.001 ). These SMPRs were approved during the AOAC Mid-Year Meeting. These SMPRs are published on the AOAC website and in the eOMA. Also during the Mid-Year meeting, the working group launched cannabis in food and pesticides in cannabis. Currently, the working group has developed a draft SMPR for Cannabis in Chocolate. This draft has been posted on the AOAC website for public comment. The working group has not begun work on pesticides in cannabis. But this is coming up.

RECOMMENDATION FOR COMMITTEE: No committee action required at this time.
