Risk measures in late effect research • Standardized Incidence Ratio (SIR) = Observed / Expected numbers of events = Relative risk compared to general population - High SIR for rare event → low absolute risk

• Absolute excess risk (AER) = Excess number of events beyond expected number / 10,000 persons/ year

• Cumulative incidence = % developing event, accounting for death as a competing risk

• Hazard ratio = RR for treatment A vs treatment B
