Vision 20/20 initiative builds momentum

 “Governance and Finance” is now “School Funding and Governance”  “Leadership and Organizational Transformation” is now “Highly Effective Educators”  “Digital Learning and Assessment and Accountability” is now “Student Learning and Assessment” Subcommittee members were asked to draft policy positions aimed to achieve the Vision 20/20 Initiative recommendations. Additionally, subcommittee members were tasked with identifying specific and innovative methods to make these policy positions realities. Workgroups will continue their work to refine and develop these items before the fourth Vision 20/20 meeting in April. As these efforts continue, subcommittee members are also requested to share the Vision 20/20 message in their communities. By increasing Initiative visibility now, Vision 20/20 will have significantly more traction when the final document is released later this year. Vision 20/20 subcommittee members met in Springfield for their third Initiative Meeting on January 23 rd . In addition to the original 42 subcommittee and three advisory members, the Initiative welcomed representatives from the Illinois Association of School Business Officials (IASBO), the Illinois Association of School Boards (IASB), the Illinois Principals Association (IPA), the Illinois Association of Regional School Superintendents (IARSS), and the Superintendents Commission for the Study of Demographics and Diversity (SCSDD). These new members were assigned to workgroups to continue the discussion on governance and finance, digital learning and assessment and accountability, and leadership and organizational transformation. Subcommittee members were assigned the task of refining and expanding upon their work thus far. Information from the June and October generative discussions -- as well as survey data collected from the Illinois Association of School Administrators (IASA), IASBO, IASB, and IPA -- was used to provide an initial sketch for the Vision 20/20 platform. Given the consistency of themes, topics, and priorities, the original three workgroup topics were blended into three main areas to provide a more focused discussion. The workgroups were rebranded as follows:
