Forty Days Full - An Invitation To Real Life

We are made completely new in our spirit and have become citizens of heaven, but our soul and body live in a sin-filled environment. We all must go through the process of regeneration. Our battle is about who we will agree with. If I agree with the Devil that I am worthless and powerless, my broken soul will take the lead in my life. If I agree with God that I am a new creation, my heavenly connection will overpower the cravings of my flesh. Bill Johnson says, "I can't afford an opinion about myself that isn't in agreement with how God sees me." In Christ, the Father sees me as new, clean and full of promise. His truth becomes the genesis for real life to spring up. The new creation is our heavenly identity. You and I are known in the heavenly (spiritual) realms. One way I like to describe it is that 'I used to be Swedish.' That is my family heritage, because my great grandparents migrated from Sweden to the United States. But now, heaven has become my new citizenship. My connection to God is now the greatest part of me. My soul still carries the memories of my past and the wrong pathways of dealing with pain are still in place. My body is still subject to the aging process. This is what I've heard called the 'already and the not yet.' There are two realities fighting for dominance in our mind. We get to decide who's in charge. I like to say, 'there's a new sheriff in town!' So when the reality of our brokenness is staring us in the face we should declare "I am a new creation!" This is the truth. It is the reality purchased on the cross by Jesus. This is how God sees you.
