Day Thirty-Two: Complete in Christ

“In Him dwells all the fullness of the Godhead bodily;” and you are complete in Him, who is the head of all principality and power.” (Colossians 2:9-10 NKJV)

H ow can Paul say we are complete? This Greek word is defined as; 'to make complete in every particular, to render perfect.' This is an outrageous claim knowing that we are still in process. The context of his comment is based upon the statement that Jesus represents the fullness of God in bodily form. Therefore, we have to start with our understanding of Jesus. He is not a reflection of God or a partial demonstration, but He's the full-meal-deal! He has become the new standard for our understanding of God. He trumps all previous conceptions of the nature of God. Any Old Testament revelation must be submitted to what we now know about God thru Christ. Jesus is not only the epicenter of human time keeping (BC & AD), but He is the new standard of all theology about God. The Hebrew nation and God's relationship to them is no longer the starting point. Jesus is now the starting point for any study of the Father. Jesus is the head over all principalities and powers. Just a few verses later in verse 15, Paul also declares, "...and having disarmed the powers and authorities, he made a public spectacle of them, triumphing over them by the cross." There is something very significant about being complete in Christ and having authority overpowers and principalities. Jesus has put me in a new position that was not previously possible to fallen
