Forty Days Full - An Invitation To Real Life

We've been created in Christ Jesus for good works. We all have been especially designed and woven with His purpose in mind. A few years ago, my good friend Danny, who's in the heating and cooling business, came to my house to help we with a project. I was watching him do something I didn't know how to do. He asked, “do you have a pair of tin snips? I said, "I think so." Coming back from my toolbox I handed him a pair of wire cutters. Some of you may be laughing at my ignorance. He said, "These won't work! You need to go to the hardware store and get some tin snips." So, I went to my neighborhood True Value store and asked for help finding tin snips. I didn't know what I was looking for because any time in the past that I had cut sheet metal I used my wire cutters. It was a project I avoided, because they didn't work at all. The store clerk took me to an array of tin snips. There were big ones and small ones, long ones and short ones, some cut to the right and others cut to the left. I was amazed! Not knowing which one to choose, I asked, "Which tin snips are the best." He said, "It depends on the job." This is how it goes with tools. There is no such thing as one-size-fits-all. This is why Home Depots are so big and for guys who like tools it feels like a candy story! When I brought back the right tool for the job, I was amazed how easy the project became. This is also the way it is with people. Each of us are made with a specific purpose in mind. Some people have this crazy idea about pastors. They think we're like Super-Christians! We have been given special powers to rise above the problems of ordinary earthlings. The fact is, we are ordinary people who have been given an extraordinary job to do. We are part of God’s tool belt just like you. There are jobs YOU can do that 'a pastor' cannot accomplish. God knows exactly which tool to use at exactly the right time. He wants to use each of us for His purpose. Too many tools for God lay dormant because they’ve
