Luxury Portfolio Vol. 07 Issue 02 - George Scarpias

IN COSTA RICA’S CENTRAL VALLEY, THE TROPICAL CLIMATE AND VAST EXPANSES OF NATURE DEFINE THE WAY OF LIFE. It’s a region of verdant rainforests, striking volcanoes, and wildlife not found anywhere else. When Spanish architect Joan Puigcorbé was tasked with creating a modern residence in this setting, the project became a balancing act between the comforts of the indoors and the outdoor scenery. For Puigcorbé, simplicity was always paramount, as he states, “We are looking to tap into how one feels, how one moves, with only the essential.” Set within the Valle del Sol neighborhood in Santa Ana, one of the most coveted areas on the western side of Costa Rica’s capital city, San José, The Wood House came to life as a minimalist residence that, quite literally, breaks down barriers.
