CAPITAL ASSET AND DEBT ADMINISTRATION Capital Assets

The City’s investment in capital assets for its governmental and business type activities as of December 31, 2018, amounts to $250,736,567 (net of accumulated depreciation). This investment in capital assets includes land, buildings and systems, improvement, machinery and equipment, park facilities, roads, highways and bridges.

Major capital assets events during the current year included the following:  Reconstruction of streets, sanitary sewer, storm sewer and watermains on Shakopee Avenue, Dakota Street, and Minnesota Street.  Vierling Drive Extension including streets, sanitary sewer, storm sewer and watermains were completed in 2018.  Trail Rehabilitation at two sections of Vierling Drive and one section of Marschall Road.  Developer contributed assets of streets, sanitary sewer and storm sewer at Ridge Creek 2 nd , Windermere 2 nd , Windermere South 1 st , Countryside 2 nd Windermere Way, Sarazin Flats and Stagecoach at Southbridge. Additional information on the City’s capital assets can be found in Note 6 on pages 66 to 68 of this report. In 2017, several projects that were “in progress” were continued and completed, as these projects often involved the coordination with County, State and Federal entities. The status of these projects is highly dependent on weather and the funding and staffing of cooperating entities, and will often impact the ability of the City to complete these projects in the anticipated year.  2 new fire rescue/pumper trucks were completed in 2018.  Vehicle replacements in police, fire, streets and parks.
