BANK OF IRELAND

U N I T T R U S T

Over the last few years, due to world conditions and fluctuating interest rates, investing in Government Securities has often proved less than rewarding. One way of dealing with this problem is to have a Gilt Edged portfolio managed in much the same way as a portfolio of equity securities. BANK OF IRELAND GILT EDGED UNIT TRUST aims to provide this service for amounts measured in tens of thousands of pounds down to sums as low as around £200. Trustees can thus introduce management into their Trusts whatever the size. Launched in November, 1973 at 100p per unit, Bank of Ireland Gilt Edged Unit Trust, the first ever of its kind in Ireland, invests solely in Irish Government Securities. The aim of the Trust is, as far as possible, to improve capital values and protect income in times of falling interest rates and to protect capital and maximise income when rates are rising. The table below shows what management of Government Stocks can achieve. It compares the performance of the Trust with an Irish Gilt Edged Index for every £100 invested. DUDGEON IRISH GILT EDGED INDEX £100.00 VALUE AT OFFER PRICE DATE (excluding income) November 13th, 1973 £100.00 (commencement of Trust) December 3rd, 1974 £102.90 £72.90 If any of your clients already hold Irish or British Government Stocks, a Scheme is available enabling these securities to be disposed of in exchange for Units in the Trust.
