Description The city has been considering implementing a Railway Quiet Zone along the Union Pacific corridor within Shakopee. The city peformed a Quiet Zone study in January 2016. This initiative was tabled until grant funding is available. Justification While a RR quiet zone would improve the quality of life for the immediate areas residents and business due to the nuisance of noise, it is expected that train speeds would raise from 10 mph to 25 mph with other safety risks that will need to be better evaluated should this initiative be pursued. Total Project Cost: $4,900,000
