POSCO Engineering & Construction has won the main contract from Gulf Advanced Cable Insulation Company for the engineering, design procurement and construction of a wire and cable compounding plant in Jubail Industrial City. The Korean contractor will build the plant to produce power cable insulation materials at the site of Saudi International Petrochemical Company (Sipchem). Sipchem jointly owns Gulf Advanced with Korea’s Hanwha Chemical Corporation. The plant is expected to begin operations in the third quarter of 2013.
