shaped rollers and dies for the new rotating compacting heads needed for the full range of cables. The new generation Cortinovis Machinery package includes not only the Rigid Cage Strander and Drum Twister with different sizes, but also the cable design and, upon request, the process engineer to ensure success of the investment. It is addressed not only to cable makers that intend to extend their production range, but also to newcomers wishing to produce Milliken conductors ranging from 1,600 to 3,000mm². Cortinovis Machinery SpA Stand: 11D40

Cortinovis Machinery SpA, part of Eurolls Group and a leader in rotating machinery, has supplied and commissioned cable technology including such rotating machines as the Rigid Strander and Drum Twister for the production of high quality Milliken copper conductors up to 3,000mm². To fulfil the tight quality requirements of such large cross section conductors, several aspects of the stranding and laying up processes required special attention and specific developments. Cortinovis Machinery supplied the 91 wire rigid cage strander with updated technical solution on the renewed rotating compacting head for the production of the pre-spiralled sector shape copper conductor up to 600mm 2 . The new self-centring compacting heads have proved its capability of producing high quality pre-spiralled sector shape conductor essential for reaching the approval of the cable quality control test system.

The package includes the Drum Twister machine, capable of receiving large, heavy bobbins up to 4,500mm in diameter – among the largest machines of its type supplied worldwide – with high pull self-centring belt caterpillar type able to lay-up five or six pre-spiralled sector shape copper conductors and round centre, with the very tight diameter tolerance typical of extra high voltage cable conductors. The turnkey supply included not only the cable design but also the supply of all necessary ❍ Rotating manufacturing technology from Cortinovis
