Cable sheathing, armouring, printing & marking

Sheathing and armouring are above all defensive: necessarily so, if the cable is to serve the ever-higher power demands of today’s electrical installations. The “armour” must also protect itself. If it is nicked, cut, shredded, or otherwise compromised, the sheathed bundles of insulated wires within will be vulnerable to failure – or worse. Printing and marking, though less obviously defensive, belong in this company. A misidentified length of cable – inadequate to its purpose, potentially hazardous – would be as unreliable in service as a poorly fortified length.

Armoured cable must be secure within its sheath. To the companies reviewed here, it is equally important that the cable be known for what it is.
