Hong Kong Postage Due

A cover mailed to Hong Kong from Liuchow on 25th December 1949. It was franked with two 5 fen Kwangsi Basic stamps. The postage included 5 fen for ordinary mail and 5 fen for additional one unit fee, 10 fen of postage in total. Liuchow was liberated on 25th November 1949. This letter was delivered one month after Liuchow’s Liberation. At the time, the People’s Postal Service had strictly implemented the new regulations and Silver Yuan stamps had been invalidated. The two Silver Yuan stamps were therefore not cancelled. On its back, the letter was stamped with a 25th December Liuchow cds and a Postage Due mark on the front. It arrived in Hong Kong on 7th January 1950. The receiver Mr. Wong Shek Bin paid the due-postage with two ten cent Hong Kong postage-due stamps.
