Civil War, Intelligence, Postal Administration

Until the nineties, post offices in China also provided cable communication services. The ability to control the post offices was therefore an important factor to win the Civil War (War of Liberation). Recently released records reveal that during the War of Liberation, a large number of post office staff were underground Communist party members. Maintaining the communication (and thereby postal service) at all cost was therefore more than a job or duty. This may well explain Mao Zedong’s promulgation of “ trio-preservations” policy and the dozens of Day of Liberation philatelic materials shown in this collection.
