Yunnan

In early December, Yunnan Governor Lu Han cabled to the Communist Chinese leaders his desire to defect from the Kuomintang. This led to the peaceful liberation of Yunnan on 9th December 1949 when Military Control Commission took over the post offices in Yunnan. At that time the Silver Yuan postage was in use. With the arrival of a huge consignment of “South West Liberation Stamp”, the Yunnan Postal Administration announced on 21st March 1950 the invalidity of Silver Yuan postage and stopped selling Silver Yuan stamps.
