The Veterans Day Ceremony will be followed by a reception in the Carillon (Virginia’s World War I Memorial) next to Dogwood Dell and will highlight its ongoing rehabilitation project led by the Virginia Department of General Services. The project includes restoration of the structure’s bells, elevator and roof, and replacement of its doors and windows. World War I historical exhibits and artifacts will be on display in and around the Carillon. In addition, winning entries for the 2018 Veterans Day Student Art Contest will be on display. The Virginia WWI and WWII Profiles of Honor Mobile Tour will also be on site for visitors to view. Profiles of Honor brings to life Virginia’s integral role in both wars, highlighting stories of Virginians who served in both conflicts.
