Going Coastal Real Estate on Southern Vancouver Island
Whiffin Spit Whiffin Spit is one of Sooke’s oldest neighbourhoods. It is home to the famous Whiffin Spit Park, which extends nearly a kilometre into the Sooke basin, sheltering it from the open waters of the Juan de Fuca Strait. The spit is a popular site for strollers, dog walking and wildlife lovers, with spectacles for every season from winter storm-watching to August’s rolling fog banks. With walking distance to water’s edge from almost every point on Whiffin Spit, it’s easy to understand why it has been a popular neighbourhood from Sooke’s earliest days. Imposing character homes from the early 1930s and ‘40s still stand, interspersed among mid-sized ranchers, quaint beach houses and newer townhouse developments. Whiffin Spit is also home to the world-renowned Sooke Harbour House, offering luxury accommodation and dining.
