Going Coastal Real Estate on Southern Vancouver Island

East Sooke The East Sooke peninsula marks the southern boundary of the Sooke Basin, and the community forms part of the Juan de Fuca Electoral Area, administered by the Capital Regional District (though a small portion by Highway 14 is officially part of the District of Sooke). The community houses several small to large-scale agricultural lots and residential zoning is rural with large properties, most of which lie on the north and east end of the peninsula. The area is only partially developed, offering a sense of remoteness that makes it ideal for vacation homes and quiet country estates while still offering easy access to Langford, Colwood, Sooke and Metchosin. It’s favoured for its large waterfront and basin-view properties, with many small inlets and coves along the coast for recreational boaters. The rest of East Sooke is dominated by the majestic East Sooke park, which covers two-thirds of the landscape and features 50 kilometres of trails that wend along the water, into the mountains and through some of the last remaining old growth stands in the region.
