PAINTING & PRINTMAKING Advanced Watercolor with Lisa Burke Location: Cape Coral Art Center Prerequisite: Prior experience with watercolor paints. Students will focus on a variety of painting and brush techniques used in painting while working from a wide variety of subject mat- ter. Color mixing, composition, and design – relating specifically to watercolor paintings – will be taught. Students may work on their own paintings, with practical advice offered, or work on a painting related to the class demo. *Homework: Each week a new painting will be started, finished at home, and critiqued at the next class. Prior experience with watercolor paints. In this class, we will use Brusho Crystal Pigments, liquid water- colors and traditional watercolors to create beautiful colorful paintings. Students will accomplish a looser style, create colors and learn how to think outside of the box. Students will learn how to create and edition a 5x7” relief. Hand printing and press printing will be utilized in this class. Students will learn how to add texture to painting using various tools. Students will create compositions using these techniques in landscapes, sea- scapes, floral, abstracts and more. There will be a weekly painting project that will be started in class and completed at home. Students will further develop relief processes and learn techniques like Chine Collé, collagraph printing and woodcuts. Students will learn about important professional practices such as pricing edi- tions, paper choice, gallery preparation and copyright restrictions. Advanced Project-Based Pottery with Rick Aliperti Location: Cape Coral Art Center In this Advanced Project Based Pottery series, learn advanced projects and learn new techniques in a lesson-based setting. In this class, you will work as a group to design and create a sculpture or monument for the June Bennett Pathway to Creativity. Students 18+ Sa Jun 29-Aug 3 1-4pm $162 Handbuilding Ceramics with Ann Cooper Location: Cape Coral Art Center Learn the basics of hand-built pottery. Students will use hand building techniques including pinch pots, coil building and slab construction to create unique functional and sculptural pieces. Experimentation with color, texture and pattern is highly encour- aged. A variety of surface decoration techniques are introduced in addition to glazing. Experienced ceramic students wishing to pursue independent practice to enhance their skills or add to their body of work are welcome. Raku is not available in this course. No class on Thursday, 7/4/2024. Experienced potters will learn about special glazes and the firing technique of the ancient Japanese art form, Raku. Raku is known for its beautiful luster, unusual colors, and free form designs obtained during the firing process.
