If he pulled harder to lift a log weighing more than 100 kg, then the log would have stayed on the ground, and Mr Bloggs would have lifted himself off the ground! If he stood out in the yard, and braced his feet against the ground, as if he was in a tug of war, he would have been able to lift about the same amount with the pulley as he lifted with his bare hands, 150 kg, but not more.
