Dies & die shop equipment

In-house die management Ajex & Turner offers a wide range of dies and machinery for re-cutting and polishing.

Dies, tools and design Temsa, based in Barcelona, is a leading supplier of tungsten carbide and steel tooling for the wire, fastener and cold forming industry, forming, drawing, extrusion, sintering and metallic deformation processes.

The horizontal in-house polishing and re- cutting machine, TCD-11 is an ideal solution for grinding and polishing the entire range of tungsten carbide dies, extru- sion dies, cold heading and round wire drawing dies. The machine consists of a heavy solid base with an X-axis, Y-axis table, a 5" chuck for holding the die and a high-speed grinding spindle. company’s

There is a vertical option, the TCD-12, designed for working the bearing position and reduction angle in one setting. Machines are available for polycrystalline and diamond dies, as well as an ultrasonic machine, and single-head, twin-head and six-head wire type die polishing machines. Ajex & Turner’s wire drawing dies, shape and pressure dies, are suitable for use with copper, stainless steel, medium and high carbon steel, brass, bronze, nickel, tungsten and aluminium products. PCD and natural diamond dies are available in sizes ranging from 10µ to 35mm, and tungsten carbide dies in sizes from 0.1mm to 150mm. Dies and supplies from Austria The family-owned company, Eder, is among leading developers of ultra-hard precision drawing die tools including tungsten-carbide and natural diamond dies and die processing machines. In 1968, Eder produced its first Compax PCD wire drawing dies. The parallel development of a series of new, more powerful die processing machines opened new areas of application for PCD die tools, such as PCD compacting dies for stranded Cu-/Al conductors (in 1988) and profiled PCD dies (in 1996) making them available for the international wire and cable industry. Today, Eder exports 98% of its products.

Recent developments include an ultrasonic machine with two workstations, model USP-TWIN, where one operator can handle two ND/PCD dies simultaneously

for higher productivity. High speed wire- type sizing machines, such as the model HGM-21, complement the ultrasonic machine in efficiency and ease of operation. PCD die-tools are used mainly in the non- ferrous wire and bar drawing industry, while tungsten carbide dies are mainly used in the ferrous wire and bar drawing industry from about 0.1mm diameter upwards. For these

tools Eder offers advanced semi-automatic ETC-1/HF machines for individual die processing operations and, in close cooperation with Agir of France, fully automatic machines for the working of a series of identical TC dies in various sizes. These are the models TCLD (for a diameter range of between 1mm to 6mm) and model TCSD (0.15mm to 1.5mm).
