Ulster Rugby v Wasps

20 clubs are fighting it out for the biggest prize in club rugby in the Champions Cup and now YOU could grab a piece of the action courtesy of our Try of the Round competition.

For each round of the pool stage, fans can take part in a public vote through ChampionsCupRugby.com having watched the videos of five shortlisted scores, either through the website or official social media channels. The outcome of the poll is then combined with the ratings of one of our distinguished rugby experts to reveal the winner. The competition continues into the knockout stages, where a further competition judges the pick of the tries from the quarter-finals and semi- finals, whilst the last-leg of the campaign is Try of the Season, which pits all previously voted winning tries against each other, to reveal the seasons ‘ultimate’ try after the finals in May. By voting for the winning selection, you will go into a prize draw for some outstanding rugby prizes (including match tickets, flights, watches and signed memorabilia).

Stars from across the continent scooped the honours in 2016/17, when supporters came together with former European Cup winner Raphaël Ibañez to select Nick Abendanon’s try for ASM Clermont Auvergne, against Saracens in the final at BT Murrayfield, as the best of the season. That try was among 356 scored during the campaign at an average of more than five per game and included some sensational efforts worthy of acclaim. The fact that the Round 1 score of Niyi Adeolokun for Connacht in their win over Toulouse was among the favourites for Ibañez – and the public – whilst not even winning the weekly vote, pays testimony to the outstanding rugby of Europe’s premier club rugby competition that thrills fans around the world, who can get closer to the action by taking part in Try of the Round through ChampionsCupRugby.com .

Nick Abendanon may have finished on the losing side for a second time in the Champions Cup in Edinburgh last season, but his second half try for ASM Clermont Auvergne was named as the Try of the Season.
