Integrated pipe testing solutions DRILLING site or pipeline accidents are usually associated with expensive property loss and serious environmental damage. High- and regular-quality products are now more important than ever. Inspection systems used at the pipe manufacturing stage have become a key factor in the quality assurance process, and ultrasonic and eddy current phased array techniques are leading the way towards an unprecedented level of sensitivity and performance for pipe industry inspection systems. inspection of longitudinal, transversal and oblique-angled defects as well as lamination discontinuities. The inspection of oblique defects can be configured in any direction from 0 to 90 degrees, allowing for the inspection of several angles at the same time and surpassing the demands of all existing industry-established codes and specifications. The system also performs a wall-thickness measurement and recreates an accurate 2D data map of the inspected pipe. demonstrated the highest repeatability in the industry, passing the qualification tests of all major oil companies and international standards.

A combined inspection cycle of full- body and weld inspection for ERW pipe is also available. Using this configuration, the system performs the full-body inspection of a pipe while detecting the weld line position and deviation. Once the full-body inspection is complete, the weld is automatically repositioned at the top of the pipe and a weld-dedicated inspection cycle is performed using specially designed ERW inspection phased array probes. This configuration optimises the inspection of each area of the pipe, and most importantly, provides a dedicated weld inspection. When a double inspection technique is required, phased array and eddy current array inspection can be combined on the same system.

The system is also capable of inspecting all pipe length including the ends, due to a specific processing algorithm. With this feature, a full pipe inspection can be achieved without the need for end-of-tube retesting, thereby reducing production-line layout needs as well as personnel requirements. By using long phased array probes, a helical pitch of up to 120mm/revolution can be attained. This is a very high inspection speed, when compared to conventional inspection technology. Also, this type of system has consistently

The Olympus systems are designed to inspect seamless and welded pipes, either with plain or upset ends. The system can inspect pipes with diameters ranging from 60.3mm to 406.4mm (or more) and with wall thicknesses of 3 to 60mm. This turnkey solution can be customised according to individual production-line requirements, in terms of inspection capacity and production throughput. Inspection modes can easily be reconfigured to meet the specific needs of any product. These modes include
