Set Boundaries If the behavior has been addressed but it hasn’t changed, you must decide how greatly the tardiness has hurt the business and whether it’s best to continue working to correct the employee’s behavior, or if it’s time to cut ties. Employee morale might be lessened if infractions meet with too swift of a dismissal; however, employees might not respond to tactics designed to ensure future timeliness. Set clear benchmarks and expected changes, and work with your employees to meet them. If they can’t be met, the only option might be looking elsewhere for help. While it usually causes fewer headaches to work with an employee than replace them, sometimes there are no other options.
