THE Wuppermann group has signed the leasing contract for a site in the Hungarian port of Győr-Gönyű. From mid-2016 a combined pickling and hot galvanising plant will start operating there. With this step the family-owned company ensures the regular customers of Wuppermann Bandstahl GmbH a seamless transition. The galvanising plant at the Wuppermann site in Linz, Austria, needs to be closed due to expiring leasing and supply contracts with voestalpine Stahl GmbH at the end of 2016. At the same time, the new plant in Hungary will serve the Austrian sites of Wuppermann in Altmünster and Judenburg. With an investment volume of nearly €100mn, the Wuppermann group is planning four production and logistics halls with a total area of about 32,000m² on the 80,000m² plot of land. The Hungarian site provides a trimodal transport connection so that supplies can result directly by truck, train and ship. The newly founded Wuppermann
