2-Day Certification Workshop with LANGUAGE LITERACY LEARNING 18-19 January, 2020

I was fortunate to attend a workshop in Dubbo recently hosted by the NSW Stronger Communities Investment Unit-TFM (Their Futures Matter) and Western Sydney Local Health District. TFM’s role is to deliver whole of system change to better support vulnerable children and families. Their family centred approach looks at current and future needs while leading a whole-of-government approach. Vulnerable families have been identified based on a range of risk factors. I was impressed with level of engagement between agencies and genuine aspirations of all to improved and Forecasting Future Outcomes report was that if nothing is done right now, 7000 vulnerable children in NSW currently under 5 years of age will be in jail at 18 years of age. The Derbyshire Language Scheme (DLS) is a language and communication program with linked assessment. This developmentally structured early intervention program facilitates social development and interaction through play-based learning . Presenter: Sue Park (M.Sp.Path., B.Sp.Thy., CPSP, MSPA). Sue has a private practice, Speech Language & Learning, in Brisbane and is co-developer of the Key Word Kids App, which was based on principles of the Derbyshire Language Scheme. She is co-rep of SPA Private Practice Member Network. Sue is a qualified presenter of the DLS, conducting workshops in Australia for the past 15 years and has used the scheme as a therapist for the past 35 years. Price: $1,065 for 2 days (no GST).
