Rev. Patrick Cahill , C.S.V. , Athletic Director Fattier Patrick Cahill, a member of the Viatorian Fathers and Brothers, came to the University in 1979 with the responsibility of administering the expanding men and women's athletic programs. Since Father Cahill took over, USD has added men's cross country and soccer, plus women's cross country and softball to its intercollegiate program. In 1979, men's baseball , basketball, golf, soccer, cross country and tennis moved to the NCAA Division I ranks and joined the West Coast Athletic Conference. By 1985, all the women's teams had become Division I programs and also joined the West Coast Athletic Conference. Men's football at USD remains an NCAA Division Ill participant. The school also supports an intercollegiate crew program for men and women . Father Cahill has brought to the University his integrity, leadership, and devotion to the job; he has given to the staff and student athletes at USD an added meaning to the word " friend ." Father Cahill has a B.A. from St. Ambrose College in Davenport, Iowa, and a M.S. in Education with a Physical Education major from Eastern Illinois University. Prior to USD, he served St. Vi ator High School in Arlington Heights, Illinois, for sixteen years, fourteen as Athletic Director and two as its President/Principal. Carolyn Greer, Head Athletic Trainer Carolyn Greer, M.A. , A.TC. , in her tenth year at USD, has the distinction of being one of the few female Head Trainers at the NCAA Division I level. Recognized as a superb trainer, Carolyn is often asked to speak to professional groups and has published articles in professional journals. She is currently teaching sports medicine at USD. Carolyn has passed on her knowledge and experience to a number of student interns who have had the fortune of working under her tutelage. In 1985, Carolyn served as an Athletic Trainer for the L.A.O.O.C. at the Summer Games and was responsible for men's and women's gymnastic competition. The subject of many newspaper articles, she has also appeared on TV's PM. Magazine and the Independent Television chi ldren's show Way To Go. Carolyn has received both her M.A. and B.A. degrees from San Diego State University. Carolyn and her husband Jeff have one son, David .

Ted Gosen, Sports Information Director Die Doumanian; Assistant Sports Information Director Ted Gosen enters his sixth year as the University of San Diego's Director of Sports Information , handling the publicity for the USD Athletic Department. In 1981 Ted received his Master's of Science degree in Human Resources/Sports Administration from Biscayne College in Miami , Florida. In his five years at USD, Ted has gained athletic department experience in advertising, ticket sales, promotions, sports information and game day operations. A 1979 graduate of San Jose State University, Ted received his Bachelor of Science degree in Business Administration. Ted and his wife Terri have one daughter, Katie. Die Doumanian begins his third year as Assistant S.I.D. A 1982 graduate of Michigan State University with a Bachelor of Arts degree in Journalism, Die worked as the sports editor of The Milford Times, a weekly newspaper in Milford, Michigan for two years before moving to San Diego in January of 1985. Among Dic's duties in the Sports Information office will be working with the women's athletic programs, as well as men's soccer, cross country and golf, and assisting the SID with football and men's basketball.
