SIMPLY THE BEST: YACHTS, ITINERARIES, AND TRIP LEADERS!

We’ve selected the ideal yachts so you can experience the Galápagos in comfort, style, and with the perfect number of fellow travelers—only 8-16 guests—ensuring an intimate experience that big ships just can’t offer. Our journeys are wonderfully active and informative, with fascinating nature hikes, snorkeling and sea kayaking at specially chosen sites, and expert Trip Leaders who bring the story of the Galápagos to life. ACTIVE AND FUN, WITH TIME TO RELAX Our adventures are active—with two naturalist-led hikes each day that bring you across incredible landscapes and close to the unique wildlife. You can also snorkel with penguins, sea lions, and sea turtles, explore by Zodiac, and enjoy optional sea kayaking. Back on board, there are ample comfortable decks to take in the views as you arrive at each new island or enjoy your favorite drink while being treated to a tropical sunset. FRESH LOCAL FOOD, WONDERFULLY PREPARED Cuisine on board is inventive, fresh, and delicious. Many of the ingredients are locally sourced in the islands: our bread comes from a women’s co-op bakery, vegetables are grown on an organic farm, juices are from locally grown fruits—even the ice cream comes from the Galápagos Cooking School! Our menus include fresh fish and ceviche, and crispy, golden llapingachos, a renowned Ecuadorean dish. SMALL GROUPS FOR A PERSONAL EXPERIENCE With just 16 guests aboard the Mary Anne , 14 guests aboard the Passion , and up to 10 guests aboard the Vision, we offer personalized service with the best staff to guest to ratio on the islands (as low as one staff member for every guest). You’ll enjoy wonderful camaraderie, not only on shore excursions but also on board, sharing meals and enjoying close access to your naturalist Trip Leader, an experience not possible on the larger cruise ships. PERFECT FOR FAMILIES—AND WE OFFER DISCOUNTS The Galápagos are a fascinating natural classroom—and the perfect destination for a family trip! The up-close wildlife encounters are unforgettable and our naturalist guides are adept at sharing the wonders of the islands with all ages. Days are filled with hiking, swimming, snorkeling, and sea kayaking fun. Be sure to ask about our special discounts for children.

WT’s Galápagos

THE ROMANCE—AND ADVANTAGES—OF A BOAT-BASED TRIP IN THE GALÁPAGOS Being on a boat-based trip gets you to fascinating—and wonderfully varied—landing sites far from the day-trippers who are staying in hotels. You’ll experience two fantastic locations each day, without long, bumpy rides out and back in open speedboats—you get to savor your time on the islands instead. Wake up each morning to a new island and a new set of wildlife experiences. Back on board after your morning excursion, enjoy lunch while the boat moves to a new site for the afternoon’s explorations. Our boats are incredibly comfortable, with deep keels and stabilizers for smooth sailing in the water and plenty of deck space. Savor sweeping views and meals al fresco , with a glass of wine on deck in the evening as the sun slips into the sea.

SMALL GROUPS AND A TRUE EXPERT GUIDE MAKE ALL THE DIFFERENCE Don’t let anyone tell you that 45 people is a “small group.” Not 26 either. We take a maximum of 16 travelers, an ideal size for an incredibly informative, fun experience, learning from your expert naturalist guide as you walk the trails and share the day’s tales over dinner. No canned lectures or lining up on deck waiting for your turn to go ashore. Our guides are the top of their profession, with an incredible gift to share their deep knowledge of the islands.

IN THE FOOTSTEPS OF CHARLES DARWIN We’ll explore the same islands that inspired Charles Darwin, who on his famous 1835 voyage aboard the HMS Beagle, discovered species that varied from island to island, helping him develop his theory of natural selection. Galápagos wildlife has no fear of humans, allowing for incredible encounters. And the land tortoises are so long- lived, you may find yourself beside a creature that was alive when Darwin walked here.

HALF OF THE GALÁPAGOS MAGIC IS UNDERWATER! So much of the Galápagos’ astounding wildlife is underwater—and we’ll make sure you experience the best of it. Snorkeling excursions in ideal spots—up to two a day—bring you close to tropical fish, marine iguanas, diving cormorants, enormous sea turtles, and playful sea lions.

Incredible Wildlife Year-Round

The Galápagos are magic any time of year. There are two main seasons in the islands, with different wildlife events in each of them. Here are some key differences, but you really can’t go wrong whenever you go! JUNE–NOVEMBER: THE GARUA SEASON DECEMBER-MAY: THE WARM SEASON

The drier garua season offers plenty of sunshine during the day but it is less intense, with more cloud cover. The air temperature is lower, with highs in the upper 70s or mid 80s F. The water temperature is cooler, although during El Niño years, the warm currents can cause warmer waters and more rainfall. JUNE: In June, the giant tortoises who live in the highlands of Santa Cruz Island begin to move to the lowlands for their nesting season. Migratory birds and whales begin their northern journeys and often stop to rest and feed in the Galápagos. It’s sometimes possible to see humpback whales along the coast. JULY: Whales and dolphins may be seen in the channel between Isabela and Fernandina. This is a highly active breeding time for many seabirds including the flightless cormorants on Fernandina and blue-footed boobies of Española. At the nest sites of the blue-footed boobies, eggs as well as juvenile birds can be seen. AUGUST: The sea currents are at their strongest, and the sea temperatures their lowest, with variations from island to island. This is pupping season for sea lions and we should see pups in many places. On Santa Cruz, the giant tortoises begin to move back up to the highlands. Out on remote Genovesa Island, swallow-tailed gulls begin to nest as do the Nazca boobies. SEPTEMBER: Sea lion colonies are very active with harem building, and Galápagos penguins are extremely active, especially around Bartolomé, so you may be snorkeling with penguins zipping around you like tiny torpedos. Seabird nesting sites are also full of activity. OCTOBER: The garua (high fog) is around at this time of year but usually burns off by midday. Galápagos fur seals begin their mating, and blue-footed boobies rear their chicks on Española and Isabela. NOVEMBER: The seas are calm, with water temperatures gradually getting warmer, allowing better visibility for snorkelers. Sea lion pups, now about three or four months old, can be very active in the waters in November and are very curious. They love to investigate visiting snorkelers.

The water is at its warmest during these months, and the seas are generally calmer. Air temperatures are also warmer, with frequent afternoon showers. DECEMBER: As the waters warm up, green sea turtles begin their mating rituals and the eggs of the giant land tortoises start to hatch. On Española, the juvenile waved albatrosses begin to leave their nests. Migratory birds and some whales will be visiting the Galápagos on their way south for the winter at this time of year. JANUARY: In January, land birds begin nesting, green sea turtles swim to the beaches to lay their eggs, and adult marine iguanas begin to show red and green coloration in addition to their usual jet black. January is a great snorkeling month as the water and air temperatures begin to warm up. FEBRUARY: The waters are typically at their warmest in February. Nazca boobies finish up their nesting activities, the Galápagos dove population peaks in its nesting, and the flamingos of Floreana begin setting up their nests. On Santa Cruz Island, marine iguanas can be seen nesting. MARCH: The snorkeling is great in March. On Isabela, for example, snorkelers at Punta Vicente Roca can find themselves surrounded simultaneously by penguins and tropical fish. In March, the waved albatrosses arrive on Española to begin nesting. On Fernandina, the marine iguanas start nesting. APRIL: Clear visibility in the water combined with the pleasant temperature makes April ideal for snorkeling. Española is full of waved albatrosses at their nest sites performing spectacular courtship dances. Baby green sea turtles and baby land iguanas are hatching. MAY: Visitors to Española in May may be able to see eggs in the nests of the waved albatrosses, and the sea turtles continue to hatch on several islands. On the tiny island of North Seymour, we watch the courtship dances of the blue-footed boobies. Santa Cruz has a new generation of marine iguanas emerging from eggs in the nests. It becomes cooler and drier in May as the Humboldt current begins to come up from the south.

“The Mary Anne was incredible...such a great experience on a great boat!” — Denise S., Lima, Peru

THREE EXTRAORDINARY SHIPS TO EXPERIENCE THE GALÁPAGOS

THE FINEST SAILING YACHT IN THE ISLANDS The three-masted Mary Anne is simply the most spectacular boat in the islands. She hosts just 16 guests and has the romantic ambiance of a classic tall ship, along with great comfort and delightful cuisine. On board, you’ll enjoy an inviting wood-paneled lounge, cozy bar, and library stocked with great books and videos on the history and wildlife of the Galápagos. A spacious deck offers lots of room for relaxing. The top-notch crew, most of whom are from the islands, provides great service, with a 2:1 passenger-to-crew ratio. To maximize your time both ashore exploring the islands and in the water snorkeling, most navigation is done at night. You’ll arrive at a new island—and new experiences— each morning. We’ll also use the lunch hour to quickly motor to a new landing site for the afternoon’s activities. For those who are sailors, the crew and captain love to raise the sails—a magnificent sight—and we may have the time to do this once or twice per trip. You are welcome to help raise the sails and pilot the boat when we do! THE ULTIMATE IN STABILITY Unlike the many light fiberglass vessels in the islands (which can bob like corks in the water), the Mary Anne’s steel hull and deep keel make her extremely stable. You will appreciate this as she glides between islands or sits comfortably at anchor. The Mary Anne’s environmentally friendly design meets the strictest international conservation standards. COMFORTABLE CABINS (NO CHARGE FOR SINGLES! ) The comfortable cabins feature individual climate control, porthole windows, a variety of upper and lower berth configurations, private bathrooms with hot showers, and there is daily cleaning service. Although smaller than those on large cruise ships, the cabins are quite large for a sailing yacht. And the truth is, with our active days, you’ll spend most of your time exploring on shore and enjoying views from the open decks. Traveling solo? There’s no extra charge for the single cabins, but availability is limited—book early! ZODIAC, SNORKEL & OPTIONAL KAYAKING ADVENTURES Zip to shore on “go-anywhere” Zodiacs, or try out one of the Mary Anne’s sit-on-top sea kayaks. They’re easy to handle and tremendously fun—no previous experience necessary! Snorkeling gear, including shorty wet suits, is available on board free of charge. Mary Anne: Our Classic Sailing Yacht

THREE EXTRAORDINARY SHIPS TO EXPERIENCE THE GALÁPAGOS

Passion: Our Luxury Yacht

ONE OF THE MOST ELEGANT YACHTS IN THE ISLANDS Originally a private family yacht of a British industrialist, the Passion has been completely refurbished for cruising the Galápagos in chic, sophisticated style—it’s the perfect combination of luxury and simplicity. Boats this size usually take three times as many passengers, but the Passion welcomes just 14 lucky guests. If you want to experience the islands in style, this is the way to go! The Passion meets the highest environmental and cruising standards, and her ship amenities are renowned. LIFE ABOARD THE PASSION The original name of the Passion was Bellissima (“gorgeous” in Italian), and with one step aboard, you’ll understand why. Beautifully furnished public areas include a panoramic sky lounge and bar, and nearly 2,000 square feet of wonderful teakwood decks with multiple places to lounge, including a secluded sun deck with an inviting hot tub for relaxation and privacy. Gourmet meals prepared by a creative culinary team are served in the formal dining room or al fresco on the upper deck—one of the delights of traveling by boat. Stabilizers minimize motion at sea so you can enjoy a most comfortable ride. And with a 1:1 passenger-to-crew ratio, you’re ensured of personalized, first-class service throughout your cruise. LUXURIOUS CABINS—AND TWO SUITES! The two luxurious suites have a king-sized bed, a private lounge area, and his-and-hers bathrooms including bathtubs. Each of the seven cabins has individually controlled air conditioning, hair dryer, and USB charger. Of the five standard cabins, one features a queen bed, one has two twin beds, and two others offer one full and one twin bed each. They all have bathtubs. One additional cabin is normally used as a single and while equipped with a shower instead of a tub in its en suite bathroom, it is certainly very comfortable. ACTIVE EXPLORATION Your days are filled with fun—and utterly delightful—discoveries. Nature walks led by your expert naturalist guide lead to shorelines where marine iguanas congregate and to colonies of nesting frigatebirds with stunning inflated red neck pouches, while snorkeling excursions introduce you to the denizens of the underwater realm—colorful tropical fish, massive sea turtles, playful sea lions, and Galápagos penguins. The fleet of on- board kayaks offers a great way to explore the rugged coastlines and hidden bays (and no previous experience is needed!), while Zodiacs provide a front-row seat for exploring mangrove estuaries and the waters below rocky cliff faces filled with nesting birds. Wetsuits and snorkeling gear are available for snorkeling excursions.
