Good Luck England on Sunday!
On Saturday 26th June we had 2 weddings in the Parish. One at St Marys and the other at All Saints. These were the first weddings since the first Lockdown began and we have more plus some baptisms to come!
John and Ania Barnes were married at All Saints and gave
permission for us to include a photo of them in Mission Update this week. Also pictured are the Fawkham and Hartley team at the wedding—Revd Helen who conducted the service, Valerie and Mary the wardens and Judy the organist. Missing is Frances who rang the bell—and took the photos— and Anne Senneck who provided pew end arrangements at the last minute after the brides plans went wrong on the Friday before the wedding.
Congratulations to all our wedding couples!!!!!
Slowly we are getting back to normal with one or two services now taking place every Sunday in our parish. We seem to be a little short of volunteers to help run the service could you help with any of the following
Deputy Wardens - open up the church or church centre, turn on the lights, make sure everyone who is participating in the service is present, set up the sound equipment, help people go up for communion, mangea the collection etc. It sounds a lot but is not that onerous Welcomers - assist the warden, hand out the service sheets Readers - read one of the Sunday reading Intercessions - develop and then lead the prayers
Servers - prepare the elements and assist the priest with the giving of holy communion Set up - Church Centre only - set up the altar etc and chairs ready for the service. Full training will be given and you will shadow an experienced person before being asked to perform the role yourself. Typically people perform a duty once a month, less frequent- ly in the roles which have more volunteers.
If you are interested or want to learn more please contact Frances Kinnear. On 01474 706493 or email firstname.lastname@example.org
Gardening Day at Church Centre—Monday 26th July 9am until 1pm
The grounds of the Church Centre are looking a little neglected lately, especially the roses which could do with a good weed and a prune. So we are going to have a Gardening Morning at the Church Centre from 9am until about 1pm on Monday 26th July. And we will be serving the gardeners with ……
Bacon and Sausage Baps and/or Cakes
Please come and join us for all or part of the morning—either to help with the gardening or we will need a couple of volunteers to help feed the troops and make some cups of tea. Many Hands make Light Work!
If you are able to help please contact Malcolm Harris.
Parish 2022 Calendar Competition - The Results!!!!!
On Saturday 3rd July we had our Calendar Photo Exhibition and Teashop. Over 70 people viewed the entries and chose their favourite photos to appear in our 2022 Calendar. Congratulations to the winning photographers and thank you for submitting your entries. Please see the following page for the winners.
Thanks go to the many volunteers who helped organise the event: - Alistair Robertson who printed and mounted the photos, Jeff Loomes who assisted with curating the photos for the exhibition, our caterers and exhibition stewards — Valerie Campbell, Marion Smith, Sue Carter, Julie Wilton, Frances Kinnear, Gill Pearson, Jennifer Adams, Gill and Gerald Cramp , Malcolm and Margaret Harris, Carol Ballard.
Finally thank you to the many people who attended and made it such an enjoyable event. Orders were taken for almost 80 calendars and they will be available very soon. If you missed the exhibition and would like to order a copy of the calendar please contact Christine. The Teashop did make a profit but costs are still being calculated so an amount cant be announced until a later edition of Mission Update.
