6.2.1 Managing Growth in the Town of Morrisville The Town is focusing on managing continued growth within its boundaries to ensure that the Town can continue to provide needed services to its residents, while protecting water quality, air quality, open space, and wildlife habitat. One of the Town’s continuing goals is to further develop districts that will contain some existing and planned concentrations of housing, shopping, and recreational opportunities. The recent creation of Activity Center Districts as well as the Town Center Districts will help maintain residents’ travel and activities in centralized areas. Additionally, the portion of the Town that is within the airport’s 65-decibel noise zone cannot be developed for residential use, which should aid in easing development pressures in some of the Town’s outlying areas. Thus, environmental impacts from everyday living and activities will be reduced in the Town’s outlying areas. 6.2.2.1 Town of Morrisville Land Use Plan Land use plans contain a Town’s official policy on the form and pattern of future development within its jurisdiction. These plans are used to direct growth by serving as a reference to guide Town staff and official boards when developing new standards and ordinances and when considering rezoning, annexation, subdivisions, and site plans. The plans are also used to direct public infrastructure and aid decisions for private sector investment.
