Comments: The cost estimate assumes $2 million for land acquisition, $1 million for site access (driveway, 20-space parking lot, trail), and $2 million for park facilities (visitor center, interpretive areas, signage). The target site is expected to be on the market shortly. The site is believed to include remnants of the Morrisville Civil War skirmish, including rifle pits. This project concepts in considered within the adopted Parks and Recreation Master Plan and Town Center Plan. Outside funding opportunities are limited to historic battlefields preservation programs. Because this is a passive park, recreation grants similar to PARTF will not qualify.
