During Mike Hursey’s program today he plans to talk about a proposed Rotary project that could help highlight the history of the buildings around the Square by placing a bronze plaque on the front facade. This would likely involve some fundraising and collaboration with the city, which would soon like to begin a downtown revitalization project.

During the Sept. 10 Paola Rotary Club meeting, club members discussed whether or not we should have our annual Farmers Night Steak Dinner that typi- cally takes place in October. There was some concern about the ongoing COVID-19 pandemic and the age of most of our famers putting them in the high risk category. Offering to-go dinners was suggested, but it also was suggested to cancel the event this year and focus on other projects. The consensus was to create a Farmers Night committee, similar to the parade committee, that would handle the organization each year. This could potentially be a sub-committee of the Community Projects Committee. No official decision regarding this year’s event was made.
