Y ear 5 - D escriptive W riting The winter night was an amazing sight despite wolves howling at the moon. The night was full of silhouettes and then silence fell around me. The howling stopped, then hungry eyes looked at me. The trees seemed to have stopped swaying, the snow waited for the cue… the chase was on! The snow hit me like hail and the song in ‘The Hall of the Mountain King 11’ playing in my head. The wolves’ paws were perambulating on the ground. A wolf jumped, it flashed passed me. The air rushed into the cold chilly night, like a kitchen fridge. I slowly opened my eyes… I was sleep walking again.

Tranquility was all around me. The blissful trees were standing tall and strong. The cool afternoon breeze made the trees sway back and forth with ease. Adults were wearing fancy jumpers covered with red, green and white colours. Lights flashed with vivid colour, bright yellow stars on top of trees with different shades of green. Having made a quick decision, Amanda bolted down the street to the café where they sell hot chocolate; the whole room was filled with excited people waiting in line. Back at home, Amanda received presents from everyone around her, she felt bad because she didn’t have any presents to give…
