E scape from P ompeii Spectacular strong smelling spices clogged up the salty air. Marvelous Mediterranean breezes swooped onto the bustling boats. Fabulous fish sprung out of the luminous sea as if they were persuading passers-by, to buy their goods. Determined fishermen were unloading their victorious-rich catches. Tremendously tall terracotta villas were eyeing at the residents wandering about. The gush of the cool wind was a baby that was whining softly in the distance, as it blew on the sleeping giant, provided protection for the immense city...Pompeii. Tranio was in the amazing amphitheatre, watching a small play with his dad Dion, the actor. His enjoyment, however, didn’t last long. All of a sudden, an enormous bellow emerged from the ground. Everything fell silent... Tranio immediately ran to the great forum. After a while, Tranio reached the forum, to see if the scholars would tell him what to do. Suddenly, tiny balls of burning cinder rained down onto the cobblestone roads. Tranio’s mind was racing even faster than a bullet train! When all hope was lost, Tranio saw his friend Livia with his peripheral gaze and took her towards the harbour. Livia realised that Tranio had taken her. She and Tranio sprinted towards a rowboat, jiggling in the grumbling sea. Tranio and Livia jumped in the boat. To their horrid surprise, a big cloud of ash was speeding towards them. Tranio took an oar and started rowing with all his might. With the mighty current of the roaring sea, Livia and Tranio were carried downstream. As they drifted further from Pompeii, the more it became a distant dream. Along with them, they carried all the memories they treasured. A question repeated in their apprehensive minds like a stereo, the question of, “will they ever see their beloved city ever again?”
