E scape from P ompeii Tranio and Dion woke up alone and confused. They ran to the city, which was a complete catastrophe. Tranio scanned the unfortunate town, caught a glimpse of Livia, and sprinted straight to her. She ran as fast as she could. The burning sulphuric gas burned his eyes and ripped his lungs. He was shoved and pushed through his path from the unlucky victims of this nightmare. He could see Vesuvius spew out toxic and deadly fumes onto the city. Their great Protector blocked out the sun and launched treacherous boulders onto the city of Pompeii. Tranio finally reached Livia but then a column fell in despair onto her. Tranio cried, “Livia!” Quickly, Dion rushed to Tranio, “Come on!” We need to escape!” However, it was already too late. The fallen column blocked the path to the city gates. Dion thought quickly and carried Tranio to the docks, but all the boats were occupied. Luckily, a kind and thoughtful elder paddled back for them. Tranio and Dion were clueless if they should trust the old folk man, but at this point, it was their only hope. They escaped from the bellowing ash cloud and smoke. They escaped from the tremors, but they were not free from the colossal waves. The elder and Dion fell silent into the everlasting sea. Now they were free. The roars and yells Mt Vesuvius gave them freedom from the city. “Rumble down, tumble down, Great City walls, feel the ground grumble, the citizens stumble and rumble down, tumble down.” Tranio whispered as he walked on the shore of his new home. All the devastating moments Vesuvius put them through had scarred him for life. He wanted to go return to his home, but all that remained were only ruins. He was petrified. A soft tear fell from his delicate eye. This changed everything. Sometimes Tranio would search for Livia and Dion, but the city was buried beneath a river of rocks and lava. Tranio had to sleep through the tears and nightmares. The towns’ people tried to be useful, but nothing was the same.
