Junior School Magazine - Edition 6 (NOV 2018)

T he N ight at the C ave - continued As the two men walked along the dirty ground of the dark cave with me they noticed the flood. “Er – how are we going to get across?” asked the second man whose courage was fading away. He sounded scared. “Just walk across carefully and don’t slip.” I yelled. So the group of three walked across the wet dirty water to the other side of the passage where the boulder had fallen to the ground. They squeezed through a tiny gap on the left and came to sunlit open air where my Dad was waiting talking to a local FBI man, while Mum was eating a sandwich with peanut butter in it. Hazel was on her phone trying to text her boyfriend, Carl. “Here we go!” I said to the two miners a little more excitedly. It felt nice for fresh air to reach his desperate face. “Thanks little guy!” said the man tiredly. “We really needed your help,” said the first man. They heaved up and out of the blackened cave. All of a sudden the group was surprised by a little ZZOOOMM! “Huh! Was that a space fox? The only thing that can run in space?” I asked scaredly because if it was then we would be in big trouble! I had just watched something about space foxes on the TV a few days earlier. “Don’t worry,” said Hazel “Space fox’s aren’t real… can you ever stop watching Mr Amazeball’s Incredible Facts!? Anyway, it was just a passing truck!” “Hello – we’re still here!” yelled the two lonely men, who hadn’t seen sunlight for what felt like years. “Oh, sorry!” I said as I pulled them up with all my muscles and strength. “Okay well now we’re very late, the plane leaves in ten seconds.” Dad said worriedly, pointing at his watch. “Anyways, what’s the use, the plane has already left.”
