Ratchet & Clank is coming to both PS4 and movie theaters this month! STACK ’s Alesha Kolbe quizzed Insomniac Games studio director Chad Dezern about what to expect in this “reimagining” of the beloved series.

Is this a revamp of the series, a remake, or something else entirely? It’s something else entirely! It’s the ultimate version of Ratchet & Clank ’s origin story, designed to sync up with the feature film. It really is the game based on the movie based on the game, so we added over an hour of cinematics to keep the game and movie stories together. But we didn’t stop there - virtually every part of the game is new and improved. We refined the controls, created new Clank gameplay, added three planets, expanded existing planets with new gameplay sections, reworked every enemy setup and boss encounter in the game, developed a new weapon arsenal, and dramatically reworked the visuals. At times we call it a “re-imagining.” But it’s really more of a new game.
