A note from our new Recreational Safety Supervisor. MDIFW

H ello folks, I’d like to introduce myself and thank you for welcoming me into my new position as the Recreational Safety Supervisor for the Maine Department of Inland Fisheries and Wildlife. I met many of you at the Maine Snowmobile Show in Augusta a few weeks ago. My name is Ronald Fournier and I have served as the Director of the University of Maine 4-H Camp and Learning Centers at Bryant Pond and Greenland Point. I served in this capacity (at Bryant Pond) since 2007, with a primary focus of supporting conservation education through our summer camps, school programs, and year-round events. Throughout my career, I have been committed to introducing new folks young and old to the outdoors in various capacities, and it’s organization like the Maine Snowmobile Association that have been instrumental in this pursuit. Maine is such an amazing place to live and recreate, with so much diversity in what is available to us. Countless

numbers of ponds, streams, lakes, and rivers to fish, a vastly wooded landscape in which to hunt, trap, or ride, and everything from mountain peaks, farmlands, and a beautiful rocky coastline. Maine’s thousands of miles of trails to ride are a huge asset to our state and I thank you all for your hard work and dedication to making Maine such a wonderful place to enjoy on snow. Your dedication to safety and the respect of landowners is commendable and I look forward to working with you as we navigate a positive path forward. My role within the department is to provide support and guidance in all areas of recreational safety. Our team of coordinators and volunteers is strong, and we are currently recruiting new volunteers that would like to join our team to lead snowmobile safety programs in their region. I am committing to you that you can expect open and clear communications in a timely manner, and we will do our best to accommodate your needs. My email is ronald.fournier@maine.gov.

Thank you again for hosting such a great snowmobile show. I wish you all a safe and enjoyable season with plenty of snow and lots of great memories made along the trail! Yours in conservation, Ronald Fournier
